Coming from quite different backgrounds and life experiences, feeling no affiliation to any political party and even rejecting the principle entirely, the members of the Social Ecology and Communalism Workshop have come together around a project that is at once political, social, and ecological: the establishment of a communalist social organization on a global scale.
Convinced that the “grow or die” type of society in which we are currently forced to live or survive can only lead to chaos, that it is fundamentally opposed to the conditions of a good life for all and leads to the destruction of all ecosystems, we believe that only a radical reversal of this organizational model can enable humanity, and the living world as a whole, to escape catastrophe. A project is not an ideology; starting from what is and aiming for what could be, it is something to be built, to be patiently developed despite the urgency but also because of it, proposing a future other than the extinction that currently threatens us in an ever-increasing manner.
The following texts are a brief presentation of this project, which we will attempt to flesh out further through our activities on this site and elsewhere, in the hope that many others will also identify with it and join in.
